Single and Happy....
I always get the comment, "Which one are you married to?" especially at church. Well I am not married, but I am only in my early twenties. For some reason this irritates me to no end because what is so wrong with being single? I am single. I have my own job and I provide for myself. Yes I do want to be married one day, but I refuse to marry someone unless I know it is right for me. Often, I get that question because I am around military guys. It just doesn't seem legit to think that a women can be in the military right? I believe singleness is a gift from God. God has allowed me to fulfill many of my dreams that I wouldn't be able to pursue if I would have been tied down to someone. Between you and I, I actually enjoy not having to worry about someone else.... It's so nice to be able to hang out with who ever I like.
So next time we take singleness for granted remember that God gave us this time to become one with him. When we are married, we have so many others things to worry about. But when we are single, we can focus on our relationship with God. It is a time to for us to use our gifts that God has given us. So the next time I get the question, "Which one are you married to" I will say the Lord.
"Sometimes I wish everyone were single like me—a simpler life in many ways! But celibacy is not for everyone any more than marriage is. God gives the gift of the single life to some, the gift of the married life to others."
1 Corinthians 7:7
