Remember 9/11
I Remember
A Poem By Megan Auge
I was only eight years old but I Remember...
I Remember
Hearing the Cries of Others Around me
I Remember
Feeling the Fear of those who Understood What was Happening
I Remember
Watching the Tower Collapse on the TV
I Remember
Watching People trying to Escape
I Remember
The Screams and Cries Coming from those Trying to Escape
I Remember
Watching Firefighters Risk their Life not Knowing if They Would Go Home to Their Family
I Remember
Seeing the Smoke from the Towers
I Remember
The Whispers of others Not Wanting to Talk Loudly Fearing that They Would Scare Us
But What I Remember Most
Is the Fear of Not Knowing What is to Come,
The Pain of Knowing that Many Were Dead,
The Fear that Maybe My Family Would Be Next
From This We will Always Remember
The Patriotism that Came Out of This Horrible Act,
Those Who Stepped Up to Serve and Volunteer For Their Country,
The Acts of Heroism from Others To Save the Lives of their Fallen Brothers and Sisters
But I Remember Most of All
Is Knowing that One Day I would Serve My Country To Protect My Family, Friends, and Country...
Some May Say I Was too Young To Remember
But I Remember Everything About that Day
Especially the Fear of Not Knowing Whats to Come
