Walk by Faith not by Sight

What does it mean to walk by faith? For me, walking by faith means putting all my trust in the lord. When we are weary, we must walk with god. Sometimes we get discouraged, but god has a plan for us. We are more important to him than anything else. Sometimes we feel that if we have sinned we are not good enough for God's grace, but that is not true at all. God would rather hear a cry from a sinner than a hallelujah. We all have dealt with hardships in our life some more than others but not one sinner is better than another. God loves us no matter what. He sent his only son to die on the cross for us. Could you imagine sending your only son to die for the sin others? This is our gracious our god is. We must believe in him and his plan for us!

2 Corinthians was written by Paul when he visited the Corinthian Church for the second time. This visit is often called "a painful visit." In this letter, Paul stated the importance of forgiveness,  being a person of Christ, giving generously, and he ends with his experience of how God changed his life. We all know that Paul original name was Saul. Paul had many sins as he had helped persecute many Christians before he came to know Jesus. Paul denied Christ not only once but three times. This shows us that even though Paul denied Jesus and God, god forgave him of his sins.

In 2 Corinthians 5, Paul focus on our fears on earth and putting all of our trust into God. Within the chapter, Paul refers to Jesus and the cross in this chapter. Before Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge, they walked by faith. They had no need to wear clothes and had no fear. They put all there trust in the lord. But both Adam and Eve went against god when they ate from the tree of life. From that day on, we as children of god have had to deal with much greater pain and suffering for their sins. Even though some may say that, "Why do you believe in a god that causes so much pain and suffering?" I usually tell them where would the compassion be for others if we did not suffer. Personally, I am glad that god has made me suffer as I don't think I would walk with God the same if I didn't. God teaches us through our pain and suffering. We learn to live with God.

If we look closely at 2 Corinthians 5:6-9, "So we are always of Good Courage; we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. For we walk by faith not by sight. We are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the  body and at home with the lord  So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him." Paul shows us that as long as we are in flesh we long to be in the presence of God. We cannot have the same relationship with him as we will have in heaven. This is such a beautifully written verse. Paul shows us that we have so much courage to live on Earth so far away from our heavenly father. It takes great strength to walk with God while in the flesh.

In 2 Corinthians 5:14-15, "For the love of Christ controls us, because we are convinced that one has died for all, therefore all have died. And he died for all, that those who live might live no longer for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised." Within this verse, Paul show shows us that Christ died for all us so that we could live for God. God sent Jesus to die so that humanity could live. Through this verse, Paul states that God's love controls us because often we think even though one has died we all must died. But that is not true at all as God crucified only Jesus so we could feel god's love for us.

In 2 Corinthians 5, Paul refers to us as no longer being human after one accepts Christ; "Therefore if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come" 2 Corinthians 5:17. We become a new creation with Christ. I believe Paul refers to a new creation because with God we live for eternity. We no longer need to be refereed to from a human point a view. We used to refer to God as a human but God is not human.

The last verse of 2 Corinthians is my favorite; "For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of god" 2 Corinthians 5:21. Jesus had no sins, but God sent him to die. In this instance, Jesus became the figure for all of our sins. God shows us through this verse that we must bring all of our sins to the cross as Jesus died for all of them.

The bible is the living and breathing word of God. By walking with faith, we are following God. Even though we often feel discourage or lose our way, follow the light unto the path of God. He will always make your path straight!
