Sweatin Like a Sinner in Church

Not one of us except Jesus can say that we haven't sinned. I know for a fact that I have sinned. We all fall short of the Glory of God, but with God's grace we can be forgiven.

But the question isn't whether we have sinned rather if we have sinned intentionally or not. Even though we are saved by the Grace of God, it is does not give us any reason to intently sin. In order to understand the difference between the two, we can compare the behavior of children and our behavior toward sin. Many of you either have children or have watched a child in the past. Whenever you tell a child to not do something, many children will intentionally do it over and over in spite you. This is what I consider intentional sin. By intentionally sinning we are essentially lashing out at God.

"Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins." James 4:17

For many years I have called myself a christian but I don't believe I truly became a christian till this last year. You might ask why I believe this because for many years I went to church, read the bible, and etc. But I didn't have a true relationship with God. I pushed him out of my life because I was too selfish as I wanted to live the way I wanted. I didn't put all my trust in God. Slowly with the help of other spiritual leaders, I am learning how to put all my trust in God and live through him.

Many of us forget that the bible is the living, breathing book of God. God outlines many guidelines to live by. Many people including me struggle with following these rules as modern society goes against every single one of these rules. For instance, many men and women no longer wait to have sex till marriage. I know every one makes there own choices, but I feel sex is meant for a marriage.

"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous." Hebrews 13:4

We must take a look at our actions to decide whether or not we are living in sin. In the bible, Moses had to deal with lot of sinners. Not only did he have to deal with the first generation Israelite who lived in sin, but then he had to deal with the second generation. Moses never thought he would become the ruler and savior of Israel as he had led a somewhat simple life before as a shepherd. He thought he missed his chance to lead. Moses had listened to God and did as he said. Even though he was trying to save there live, the Israelite people complained about everything. They continued to live in sin even though Moses warned them that God's wrath was coming for those who had continued to sin.

"An the people spoke against God and against Moses, "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we loathe this worthless food?"

One major thing we can learn from this passage is bad things happen when we complain. After the people had spoken against him and Moses, God sent a fiery of serpents among the people. People were dying left and right from snake bites so Moses said,

"We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you; pray to the Lord that he take away the serpents from us." Numbers 21:7

Even though the people continued to sin, God loved them so he told Moses to make a Bronze serpent which would heal all those bitten by the snake if they looked into the eye of the bronze serpent. From this passage, you can see that God has so much love for his people. He saved them even though they had complained and sinned. As the people started to put there trust in God, God saved them. Even though God had saved the people, this did not give them any right to continue to sin. The people should have learned from the first generation of Israelite. Moses tried to lead all of the people to safety, but the Israelite people spoke out against him and God. They complained from the lack of water and food, but what they didn't realize is that God provides for us. We do not need to worry instead we must put our trust in god. We must abide by him and his doing. God has a plan for us, so we must live by him and his word.

"Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all." Matthew 6:31-32
