Great Verses about Worrying....

One of my greatest faults is worrying. God tells us constantly not to worry as he will provide for us through the good and the bad. But like most people today, we constantly worry about money, family, friends, work, and etc. Being in the military brings extra worries as we often have to say goodbye, move, deploy, and etc. We are on call 24/7 so we never really get time to ourselves, but do not fear. Our god is with us where ever we go. Last night I decided to search the bible for some great verses to help not only me but others who often worry.

Great Verses about Worrying:

1. "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?" Matthew 6:25-27

Matthew 6 is part of Sermon on the Mount. Sermon on the Mount is a very beautiful piece which is a collection of sayings and teachings from Jesus. Jesus wanted to show us that we do not need to worry. God always provided especially in hard times. Even though we might not always get what we want when we want, God always has a plan for our life.

2. "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Matthew 6:34

This verse is also a part of the Sermon on the Mount. In this verse, Jesus is teaching all his followers to have trust and faith in God. God provides when we are in need as long as we trust him. We must have faith in God.

3. "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30

In Matthew 11:28-30, the father revealed his son. Jesus shows to us that he is the son of God. He shows that he is the one that will come save us all of our sins. We do not need to worry as God gave us his only son. Jesus was crucified and died on the cross for us. This is the most unselfish act someone can do. Can you imagine sacrificing your son? I surely do not know if I could do it, but God shows us his compassion and love by doing so. God wants us to bring all of our worries to the cross as Jesus died for us. There is no reason to worry anymore.

4. "And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his  span of life?" Luke 12:25

This is a beautiful where God compares us to Ravens. Ravens neither sow or reap, but God always provides them. They have no fear that food will not be available as God always supplies with food wherever they go.

5.  "Peace I leave with you;my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you.Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." John 14:27

In John 14, Jesus promises us the Holy Spirit as long as we love him. God will always be with us. We need to have faith in him. God gives the gift of peace with ourselves. We must bring all our worries to him.

A few great things to remember when you are either worrisome or anxious is to Pray. Pray all the time. God is always listening to you no matter what. Bring all your burdens to God. But never forget to thank God for all that he has done for your life.
