Losing It All...
Good evening.... Today I had a very interesting revelation. The other day as I was praying to God to show me what his plan was I happened to open up the bible to Job. I thought to myself what could God possible be showing me? I read over Job but didn't really read for the true meaning. But God was truly trying to show me something as the Sermon at Church today was on the one and only Job. Sometimes instead of paying attention to ourselves we really need to open our eyes to what God is showing us.
Job loses everything, but he keeps his faith till he finally loses his health. The important thing to remember at the time was the Job took pride in his sons and daughters. He named his daughters Jamimah (meaning Dove), Keziah ( meaning cinnamon), and Keren-Happuch (meaning horn of makeup). This was very different for the time as he named all three daughter after their beauty. This shows the Job truly thankful for his daughters. Also, Job cared greatly for his children by giving them all an inheritance which was unheard of for women of that time. As you can see, Job was a man of pride. He lived to worship God, but those were in good times. God allowed the Devil to tempt Job to see if he would stay true to God.
God allows the Devil to first take everything from Job but except for Job himself. Job stays true to God and continues to worship him. Then, God allows the Devil to take Job's health. Not all people will understand this but we can live with everything taken away from us but the minute our lives are at stake is when we lose hope in everything.

I will admit that these past few weeks I have been severely selfish. I have only thought about what I want and why things cannot go my way.... But that is not how God works. In Job, God allows the Devil to torment Job in every way. Not only does Job lose his children, but he looses his livelihood. Before Job lost everything, he was a strong believer and lived by faith. Every morning Job would rise early to offer burnt offerings for not only him but all of his family and friends for if they had sinned the day before. He lived by God. But God had other plans for Job at the time.

This is a very interesting chapter as there are two separate scenes taking place as if one is in the Upper room and another in the lower room. God allows the devil to tempt Job to see how faithful Job is to God. Not until we lose everything can we really show our faith to God.
"Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?" Job 2:9
"So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord, and afflicted Job with loathsome sores from sole of his feet to the crown of his head." Job 2:7
After Job was sick with soars from head to toe, three of his friends came to mourn with him for seven days without one word spoken in those seven days. Could you imagine sitting with some one for seven days with out uttering one single word? I know I couldn't do it. But it was a tradition with in Hebrew culture during time of mourning. Job truly had some wonderful friends as I don't even know if I would have three friends to mourn with me after losing everything. We don't really realize our true friends are until we lose everything. True friends stick through everything even when we don't have a penny to our name. Sometimes the greatest gift God can give us is losing everything.
After losing his health, Job started to doubt God. Job cursed the day of his birth because of his frustrations with god. I don't want to put Job down for what he did as we all have sinned and doubted God a time or two. I know I have. Job was truly losing hope. Could you imagine losing everything? Not only did he lose everything, but he had to deal with people telling him thing like you must pray more as you have clearly sinned, God wouldn't have done this to you unless you didn't believe in him enough, and etc. Job did nothing wrong in the eyes of the Lord until he cursed him. Job was truly a faithful man to God, but sometimes God must tempt us so that we can show our true faith to him.

Job struggle with his faith for quite some time till he finally got down his knees and prayed to god for his friends and family. The lord restored everything of Job's. This shows us that even through struggles God is with us no matter what. We must show faithfulness to god through the good and the bad. I know that I have struggled these past few weeks, but I have not really looked with my eyes to see that God has a plan for me which might be different than I want and need. God has a plan and direction for everyone but we must be faithful even when we lose everything as Job was. We all have sins but Jesus saves everyone from their sins as long as we are faithful to God....
